In the third match of the season the team finally scored a point
with a draw at Surrey. Keith
Woodhouse reports:-
We managed to field a team despite a number of people having to drop out at
the last minute due to illness and other reasons. Player number 34 on the list
replied late Friday night! So many thanks to all those who played.
The match started late as the opposing team captain was delayed in the
traffic!
The match was close in the early stages but we needed 3 out of 4 wins on the
last boards to secure the draw. The last game to finish was mine which I tried
to lose from a won position! Fortunately my opponent was short of time so I won
in a scruffy end game on time.
This result means we are unlikely to reach the nationals but we still have 2
matches left.
