| National Champions!
Congratulations to the team and to everyone who has played for the
County U100 this season.
In virtually every aspect this season we could not have done better.
Today our top boards came good when we needed them most, with 4 1/2
points out of the first 5 ! (this would have given us a win on board
count if need be) It was especially good to win convincingly, and not
have any worries about the last board or two!
The pleasure for me in running our team this year has been
considerable. Many of you have made a big effort to play and to play
well. It has been a great squad performance. Thanks also to the Herts
Association who have been supportive from the first.
Our Winners Cup has pride of place on the mantelpiece, and should be on
show at the Herts AGM which takes place on Friday 11th July at The Free
Church in Welwyn Garden City at about 7.30pm I think. Drinks on me in
the pub next door afterwards. ( now the accounts need doing! )
I believe that Barrie, Andrew, Neil and Graham are due County ties for 3
consecutive wins - if I have missed anyone else out please let me
know.
Photos, the chap who had difficulty with my camera actually took 20
photos - if one is good enough and we can add Roger and Terry Douse
into it, I will circulate it later.
Best wishes to you all for the 'close' season,
Kidge.
Kidge Elder reports: Congratulations on an excellent win today, in a strong and convincing style. You even ate all 16 of the doughnuts supplied. The Final is on Saturday 5th July and I will enquire as to the possibility of playing this more locally if our opponents are Surrey, who have a disputed game to resolve against Notts, before we know who we play. We went home happy men and look forward to July 5th Writtle is a good venue and we were well looked after. Everyone has paid up their board fees, and no such fee will be charged for the Final.
