Following on from Herts' success at Under 9 level in April, there was further Hertfordshire school's success at the EPSCA National Primary Schools Under 9 Final, which was held at Oakham School. Nine schools (out of an original entry of 142 schools) qualified for the Final and, after four rounds played under a jamboree system, Habs and Magdalen College (as the top two teams) played off against each other (in the final round)  for the championship. The round was drawn 2.5 points each but unfortunately Habs lost out on a board count tiebreak! So close .........

3rd        Dulwich College (S.E. London)

4th        Hamilton (Bucks)

5th        Brookland (N.W. London)

6th        Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield (South Yorks)

7th        Nottingham High School (Notts)

8th=      Yateley Manor (Hampshire)

8th=      Aughton St Michael (Lancs)
